Employee Training & Recruitment
Department of Employment,
Training & Rehabilitation (DETR)
The Nevada Department of
Employment, Training and Rehabilitation provides a number of
labor-related services to Nevada's job seekers and employers.
Services include, but are not limited to, applicant recruitment
and screening, a career enhancement training program, and
provision of labor market information.
Western Nevada Community
College (WNCC)
In response to the local
business community’s needs, Western Nevada Community College has
designed specialized training programs in machine tool,
drafting, electronics, computing and other occupational areas.
Recent training programs conducted for area businesses have
included welding certification, math, English, supervisory
training, and computer applications.
Nevada Business Services
Nevada Business Services is
funded by the U.S. Department of Labor through the Workforce
Investment Act to provide employment and training services to
eligible residents. Services that are offered to employers
include new employee assessment, pre-screening and recruitment,
on-the-job training and customized training.

Northern Nevada Development
Authority (NNDA)
The NNDA provides a wealth of
information about the economy, the companies and the workforce
in northwestern Nevada. The NNDA focuses on Carson City,
Douglas, Storey and Lyon Counties. Available through the NNDA is
information regarding the area’s school systems, utilities,
government, and recreation, as well as a comprehensive
Industrial Supplier Directory.
Management Assistance
Program (MAP)
As the industrial extension
program of the University and Community College System of
Nevada, MAP works directly with Nevada manufacturing,
construction and mining companies to streamline operations,
apply the most up-to-date and sophisticated technology, provide
managerial assistance and train workers.
Small Business Development
Center at the Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce
The Nevada Small
Business Development Center provides free and low-cost business
counseling to both new and existing businesses out of the
Chamber of Commerce offices in Carson City. This service makes
it even more convenient for area businesses to obtain the
information they need for achieving success without making to 30
mile to the
main SBDC office on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
Nevada Manufacturers
Association (NMA)
NMA is an association of
manufacturers in Nevada joined together to pursue common goals.
Through the leadership of its members, elected officers and
staff, the NMA is recognized as the voice of manufacturing in
Nevada.
U.S. Business Advisor
The U.S. Business Advisor (Business.gov)
is a collaborative effort managed by the U.S. Small Business
Administration. Business.gov provides a one-stop, common access
point for Federal Government services and information needed to
assist with starting, running, and growing a business.
Nevada Film Office
The Nevada Film Office promotes
and supports the use of the state's locations, services and crew
members by the production industry.
Nevada JobConnect
Nevada JobConnect, a Nevada
Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation program,
is charged with providing workforce development services to
Nevada employers and job seekers. The organization offers
recruiting, retention, training and retraining, and outplacement
services, as well as valuable information on labor law and labor
market statistics to Nevada employers.
Nevada Technology Council (NTC)
Statewide membership consists
of both private and public sector individuals who are interested
in affecting change and policy to enhance technology
growth in Nevada. NTC members include entrepreneurs, business
leaders, technologists, prominent government officials,
scientists and involved citizens.
NevadaWorks
NevadaWorks is the only agency
that coordinates workforce development to meet the needs of employers
in northern Nevada. NevadaWorks provides businesses, economic
development authorities, educational institutions, governmental
agencies and individuals with unique occupational, labor and
workforce statistics and information through the publication of
current Occupational Outlook Reports and other workforce,
economic and employment surveys that meet locally identified
economic and employer needs.
USDA - Rural Development
Office, Nevada State Office
USDA - Rural Development is the
lead federal entity for rural economic and community development
needs. The organization administers financial and technical
assistance through a network of state Rural Development offices,
various non-profit and educational institutional partners, as
well as its national office.
U.S. Small Business
Administration (SBA)
The U.S. Small Business
Administration provides a wide variety of financial, technical
and management assistance to help start, run and grow
businesses. The SBA is dedicated to providing customer-oriented,
full-service programs and accurate, timely information to the
entrepreneurial community.
Nevada Small Business
Development Center (NSBDC)
The Nevada Small
Business Development Center is a statewide business assistance
outreach program of the University of Nevada, Reno. The
organization provides an abundance of free and low-cost
information, assistance, counseling and training for Nevada
businesses.
Nevada Microenterprise
Initiative (NMI)
Nevada Microenterprise
Initiative is a private non-profit business development
corporation, founded in 1991. NMI assistance includes finance
for start-ups or business expansion, entrepreneurial training
and one to one business counseling.
Service Corps of Retired
Executives (SCORE)
The SCORE Association is a
non-profit association dedicated to entrepreneurial education and
the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide.
Nevada Procurement Outreach
Program (POP)
The Nevada Procurement Outreach
Program works to increase the flow of contract dollars to
Nevada businesses by providing training and technical assistance
to find, bid on, and win federal, state and local contracts.

Investment Office
The Nevada Global Trade and
Investment Office conducts trade missions, provides export

Nevada World Trade Council (NEWTRAC)
The Nevada World Trade Council
is a non-profit professional business organization serving
Nevada’s international business community. NEWTRAC encourages
and supports Nevada’s economic diversification and growth by
further developing Nevada’s international business
opportunities. By offering access to a variety of resources and
educational seminars, NEWTRAC provides the business community
with the resources, knowledge, and skills necessary to
effectively conduct global trade.

The Carson City Convention and
Visitors Bureau provides information regarding events,
attractions, lodging and dining in Carson City. The Bureau’s

The mission of the Carson City
Area Chamber of Commerce is to continually build a healthy
economy and high quality of life in Carson City. The Chamber of

Commission
The Historic Resources
Commission promotes the educational, cultural and economic
values of Carson City’s historic districts. The Commission
oversees the aesthetics of development in the historic
districts, as well as any remodeling of historic structures, new
